New renders and work

Posted in Uncategorized on February 4, 2011 by quasirella

I have been working on the lilac room and I just finished a render of a moving ceiling fresco, meant to look like fluffy, rococo clouds.  Here are some images of these, as well as a quick render of a porcelain figurine I’m putting on the fireplace of the room.

This room is inspired by the late French baroque, Rococo, which was an explosion of opulence.  I am very influenced by the look of Sofia Coppolla’s film “Marie Antoinette” 2006, with it’s candy colors, assortment of differing and sometimes conflicting patterns, and above all, it’s extremely lighthearted excess.  Here are some inspiring photos from her film.

Test Renders for the White Room

Posted in Uncategorized on December 6, 2010 by quasirella

The white room is meant to be complete joy..and originally  it was designed as a tall cathedral, now I have decided to make it more abstract with tall arches reminiscent of a cathedral, but mostly just a space full of light.  The arches will give form to the space and offer a way for shadows to pierce the light, complimenting it and also referencing church arches while being more modern.  I was inspired by San Giovanni Rotondo, which is a modern cathedral made a few years ago celebrating Padre Pio.  A picture is below.  It was designed by Renzo Piano.  Below that are two preliminary renders of my white room.  I am still adding more elements, but this is the general look.

This is one of the camera moves through the white room I’ve been working on with sound added.

stuff for festivals

So, even though it is a long way off, I suddenly had an idea for festival application stuff earlier today, so I made a quick trailer and poster, just so that I wouldn’t forget later.

The hallway sequences

Instead of the rooms being aligned along the dark hallway, and we turn to enter them, what if they pulled you straight ahead, and we entered them like the title sequence for Roman Polanski’s “Ninth Gate”?  A clip is below.  I like the imagery from this film.
